Free Food, Drinks and Rides Dominate 2020 U.S Election

Free food and great discounts at Krispy Kreme affirms why every day should be an election day. Whether voting or abstaining from voting, the discounts were very much available as the joint sought to ease the election fever and tension.

Election Day Offers

Krispy Kreme gave away glazed donuts to all people, whether with a special voting sticker or not, as long as supplies lasted on Tuesday. Joining the frenzy of free gifts was Planet Fitness, which provided voters and other people a way to work off the election’s stress with a free workout and massage on the Election Day.

While Election Day is also a National Sandwich Day, several restaurants were also seen offering great discounts and specials on subs. Through November 9, McDonald’s is to give away its new pastry items with a purchase of a hot or iced coffee through its app.

Likewise, ride-sharing apps were also offering deals in several cities in a bid to get people into polling stations. Lyft offered as much as a 50% discount on one ride to any polling location or dropbox on customers using code 2020VOTE. The ride-sharing service also offered its network bikes and scooters to select cities.

People staying up late waiting for election results can also enjoy exciting deals from Dunkin. DD Perks loyalty members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee. The restaurant chain has also rolled out its new seasonal drinks Wednesday featuring Peppermint Mocha Latte.

Skirting Federal Law

Unlike in the past, where people needed the ‘I Voted Sticker’ to enjoy some of the discounts and offers, that has not been the case in 2020. More mail-in ballots and early voting meant very few people will have the sticker. Likewise, the outlets are offering the discounts and deals without any discrimination.

In addition, most businesses don’t require a sticker as under federal law, it is illegal to offer freebie in exchange for votes. By offering the deals to all, the businesses are able to skirt the federal law.
